| A large, pottery slab-type lid with relief depiction of the deceased human figure wearing a broad collar composed of painted leafy vines. Overall painted cream ground with red and brown details including a scene on the lower half depicting Anubis holding a large lotus flower standing over the deceased reclining on an alter table. An additional representation of the deceased is on an alter table above Anubis. Repaired from four large pieces with restoration over the break lines, having a large edge chip near the right hand, chip on chin and ears. Measurement: 36-3/4"L. x 12"W. Period: Roman Period, ca. 3rd-4th century A.D. | ||
